38 to 41 cm. White head and breast, glossy back area, black wings and tail, red bill with a yellowish tip, red eye ring and legs, pale orange or yellow eyes. Juveniles have a grey crown and breast.

Tropical regions, subtropical rainforest, scrub, watercourses and street trees.

It makes a nest of loose twigs and 1 cream egg is laid.
