Male Nominate

  • Yellow bill
  • Bronzed golden-green head
  • Small frontal crest
  • Glossy emerald-green upperparts and breast
  • Red lower breast

Distribution

Northern South America: found in Colombia and Venezuela

Habitat

Canopy and mid levels of humid forests, cloudforest, borders, clearings and second growth woods.

Behaviour

Diet

Their main diet consists of fruit and berries. They have been noted to pick fruit from trees whilst in flight.

Breeding

They make use of cavities in old tree stumps, trunks and limbs of trees.
