[edit] Identification

Length 10-11 cm. A grey-brown canary with a yellow rump and a pale yellow throat patch, white belly, sides of the face are grey, the chin is white and a blackish band runs across the lower neck.

Status: Classified as Endangered in the 2008 IUCN Red List.1

A restricted range in central Ethiopia.

Monotypic.
Placed in genus Crithagra by Gill and Donsker.

Semi-arid scrub and savanna, savanna with scattered trees, thick patches of scrub on rocky hill sides, and grasslands.

The diet includes seeds.
