18cm (7ins). Dusky green wings with yellow patches, dark blue and gray body, lavender head, throat and breast. Juvenile has olive green head and upper back.

Palm Tanager found to the south of Yellow-winged Tanager's range.

Mexico south to Nicaragua and Honduras.

Open humid woodland.

It often forms flocks of 50 or more members.

The diet includes fruit, insects, and nectar.

It builds a small cup-shaped nest of dried fibres, leaves, and mosses. 3 gray, mottled with brown eggs are laid.

A fast, dry, almost rattling trill, occasionally ending with more musical notes.
