15 cm. Grey-brown, conspicuous whitish supercilium, upperparts are streaked dark, underparts warm buff with fine dark streaks below, white throat and flanks.

High-altitude shrubland and mountains; open, stony slopes with dense cover of short perennial grasses and dwarf-shrubs, near-vertical rocky features such as scree, cliff-faces and field terrace-walls.
