Blackish head, salmon throat. Males have a throat from bright salmon to dusky red on the breast, and femalesā throats are slightly duller salmon.

The nest is cup-shaped and made from leaves and plant material. 2 eggs are laid. The young fledge 10-12 days after hatching.
