14–16 cm. Blue-grey or grey-brown (North African races being browner, Middle Eastern races bluer), black tail.

North Africa, Middle East and Arabian Peninsula.

There are 6 subspecies.

Rocky deserts and mountains.

It nests in a rock crevice and 3–5 eggs are laid.
