Identification

6cm

  • Green and yellow
  • White eye ring.

Distribution

Northern Mariana Islands, in the Pacific (belonging to the US).

Taxonomy

Two subspecies recognized:

  • Z. c. conspicillatus on Guam
  • Z. c. saypani on Tinian, Agiguan and Saipan

Has been considered conspecific in the past with Caroline Islands White-eye and Plain White-eye.
The Rota White-eye is sometimes considered a subspecies of this species.

Habitat

Moist lowland forests, plantations, and rural gardens.

Behaviour

Diet

The diet includes insects.

Breeding

The nest is made from roots, grass, moss, and spider-web strands. The clutch consists of 2 light-blue eggs.
