Distribution

North and Central America
USA: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Louisiana and Texas: outside of Texas, it is rare away from the Gulf Coast
Mexico along the Gulf Coast from Texas to the east end, including entire Yucatan
Central America: Guatemala, Belize and Honduras, all in the areas of Yucatan closest to Mexico.

  • Southern Texas (lower Rio Grande Valley) to north-eastern Mexico
  • A. y. cerviniventris:
  • Southern Mexico (Veracruz, Puebla, Oaxaca and Chiapas)

Habitat

Mixed forests, brush, riparian woodland and savanna. Subspecies chalconota seems to prefer more open pine/oak forests.
