The latest addition to the RSPB Dee Estuary nature reserve is situated adjacent to the older Inner Marsh Farm part of the reserve. Eventually the two will be joined up and all access will be via Burton Mere Wetlands entrance off Puddington Lane, Burton, Cheshire.

Breeding: Lapwing, Oystercatcher, Little Grebe, Tufted Duck, Gadwall, Kingfisher, Yellow Wagtail, Green Woodpecker, Hobby Wintering: Whooper Swan, Bewick's Swan, Pink-footed Goose, Pintail, Bittern, Jack Snipe, Woodcock, Hen Harrier, Merlin, Peregrine Passage: Spotted Redshank, Greenshank, Wood Sandpiper, Curlew Sandpiper, Avocet, Black-tailed Godwit, Marsh Harrier and Osprey

Since opening in September 2011 the main scrape has attracted lesser yellowlegs, pectoral sandpiper and several curlew sandpipers. The other wetland nparts of the reserve have seen Great White Egret, Cattle Egret, Glossy Ibis and Spoonbill. Winter 2011 saw an influs of geese with 3 bean geese and 63 european white-fronted geese the highlights

Take the A540 (Chester High Road), signposted The Craxton Wood Hotel. The entrance is located down Puddington Lane, near Bishop Wilson Primary School. 3 unisex toilets inc. one for people with disabilities, 2 more to be opened soon. Self-service Tea/Coffee machine. 4 picnic tables Sculpture trail
