12-15cm. Bluish grey back, white eyering, yellow thoat, chest, belly, black neckband, white undertail, yellow line in front of eyes. Sexes similar.

United States and Canada; winters in northern South America.

This is a monotypic species.

Deciduous woodlands and riparian thickets.

[edit] Behaviour

The female builds the nest which is placed on or just above the ground among thick vegetation. The female incubates the eggs for about 12 days. Both parents feed the young for about 10 days until they fledge.
