Genus: Turdus

Description

Thrushes belonging to the genus Turdus are distributed around the globe, including Europe, Africa, Asia, and North and South America. The only two members of the genus present in Australia are introduced (Eurasian Blackbird and Song Thrush).

Taxonomy

Turdus is a genus in the family Turdidae. The type species is the Mistle Thrush.
The former genera Platycichla and Cichlherminia are now included in this genus. Nesocichla might end up here as well.
