Australasia found on Vanuatu (Espíritu Santo, Malo and Malakula).

This is a monotypic species[1].

Dense rainforest above 200m.

The diet includes insects, beetles, spiders and small lizards.

[edit] Breeding

The nest may be hole in a palm tree or tree fern but more often both sexes excavate a burrow in a termite mound in a tree. The clutch consists of 3-4 white eggs.
