Endemic to north-eastern Africa, occuring in Kenya, Somalia, Ethiopia and Southern Sudan.

Eremopterix signatus has two subspecies:[1]

  • E. s. signatus
  • E. s. harrisoni
  • South-eastern Sudan to north-western Kenya (west of Lake Turkana)
