Bright orange bill
Male

  • Light blue crown
  • Slate-blue upperparts
  • White underparts

Female

  • Brown above
  • Grey cheeks
  • Blue crown

Distribution

Fiji.

Taxonomy

Formerly considered conspecific with Azure-crested Flycatcher.

Subspecies[1]

There are 2 subspecies:

  • M. c. castaneigularis:
  • Fiji (montane forests of Vanua Levu and Kambara)
  • M. c. whitneyi:
  • Fiji (montane forests of Viti Levu)

Habitat

Moist montanes and lowland forest.

Behaviour

Diet

The diet includes insects.
