28 cm, slender and long tailed bird with a brownish grey plumage and a broad white supercilium, dark eyeline, white throat bordered by 2 dark stripes, buff grey breast, streaked flanks, dark grey bill and legs.

Endemic to Central Chile.

This is a monotypic species.

Dry shrubland, scrubby areas, farmland and forest edge to 2200m.
