Identification
16 cm (6¼ in)
Male all black except for white underwing coverts.
Female brown with black hood; the hood sometimes has some white streaks. Eye is dark.
Distribution
Very local in north eastern Ecuador (along upper Río Napo and tributaries)
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Swamps, near blackwater creeks, etc.
Behaviour
Usually in pairs or singly, sometimes with other antbirds.
