South America: found in Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay and Argentina.

Taxonomy

Subspecies

There are 2 subspecies^[1]

• P. v. audax:

• Southern Peru (Ayacucho) to Bolivia and north-western Argentina

• P. v. validus:

• Tropical eastern Bolivia to north-eastern Argentina, Paraguay and eastern Brazil

Habitat

Denizen of the mid-level Atlantic forest.
