  • Green upperparts
  • Chestnut cap
  • Dark throat
  • Greyish-white underparts
  • Yellow carpal joint
  • Yellow undertail coverts

Female: is duller and lacks the dark throat

Asia: found in China, India, Eastern Himalayas
Southeast Asia: Indochina, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Borneo, Malay Peninsula, Brunei, Singapore, Philippines, Indonesia, Greater Sundas, Sumatra

There are 5 subspecies[1]:

  • O. a. nitidus:
  • O. a. atrogularis:
  • O. a. humphreysi:
  • O. a. anambensis:
  • Tioman, Natuna and Anambas islands (South China Sea)
  • O. a. chloronotos:
  • Northern Luzon (northern Philippines)
  • This subspecies has sometimes been assigned to Philippine Tailorbird. A recent paper has proposed that it deserves status as full species, Orthotomus chloronotos, Green-backed Tailorbird[4].

Lowland moist forests and forest edges. Mangroves, parks and gardens.
