  • Dark brown wings
  • Rufous shoulder
  • Grey throat and breast, dark streaked
  • White supercilium
  • Dark eyeline

Distribution

An endemic species to central Chile and Argentina.

Taxonomy

This is a member of the Ovenbird family, Furnariidae.

Three subspecies are recognized[1]:

  • A. h. goodalli
  • A. h. humicola
  • A. h. polysticta

SACC has recently placed this species in genus Pseudasthenes; the Opus is waiting for the position of the world wide checklists.

Habitat

It can be found in shrubby, matorral-like environment scrubland. Arid and semi arid scrub to 1200m.

Behaviour

It is quite skulking, only occasionally coming out of the bush for a few seconds, to look for food in the ground.
