Identification
Distribution
From Lesser Sundas (Indonesia) to New Guinea, Australia, Solomon Islands, Samoa and Vanuatu.
Taxonomy
Dickinson and Gill and Donsker recognize five subspecies:
- T. d. sumbaensis on Sumba Island (Lesser Sundas)
- T. d. meeki in southeast New Guinea and adjacent islands
- T. d. delicatula from the eastern Lesser Sundas to Australia, Solomon Islands and Samoa
- T. d. interposita on Santa Cruz Islands and Banks Islands, Vanuatu
Clements includes this species in Barn Owl. The taxonomic situation of the Barn Owls is not yet fully solved.
