Identification

58-65cm.

Male

Blue black plumage
Short white crest
Red facial skin

Female

Grey brown plumage
Brown wings
Black tail, central feathers are brown

Distribution

Taxonomy

A monotypic species.

Habitat

Dense, wet lowland forests to 600m.

Behaviour

4-7 eggs are laid and are incubated for 21-22 days.

Vocalisation

Alarm call: puk-puk-puk.
