Distribution

Sub-Saharan Africa: Ivory Coast east to Sudan, western Ethiopia and north-west Kenya.

Resident in some parts of range but mainly a dry-season migrant to West African savannas (present October-June).

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

Dry open savanna and semi-desert with trees; rocky hills and gorges.
