• White supercilium
• Black sides of crown
• Dark eyestripe
• Median crown yellow (male has orange center to crown, often concealed)
• Nape grayish
• Upperparts olive
• Wings and tail blackish with 2 whitish wingbars
• Thick black bar across base of secondaries
• Yellowish flight feather edgings
• Throat and underparts pale gray
• Washed buff on flanks
