[edit] Similar Species

Green Warbler-Finch is on average brighter and the male will develop a reddish throat patch that can be very obvious, and which is never seen in Grey Warbler Finch (group fusca).

Endemic to the Galapagos Islands (Ecuador).

[edit] Taxonomy

Seven subspecies are recognized: fusca, becki, mentalis, bifasciata, cenerascens, luteola, and ridgwayi and are found on Pinta, Marchena, Darwin, Wolf, Genovesa, Santa Fe, San Cristobal, EspaƱola, and Floreana (notice that each island has multiple names, this account follows the SACC proposal1.
Has been considered conspecific with Green Warbler-Finch in the past.

Prefers dry areas and is mostly found in smaller, lower islands.
