Identification

Males show green beard narrowly bordered white, white and black in the crest, purple sheen to crown sides, brown and buff scaled underside, and tail with white centers to tail feathers (except central pair).

South America: eastern Colombia

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species.
Formerly included in Bearded Helmetcrest.

Habitat

High-altitude grassland.

Behaviour

Diet

Their diet consists mostly of nectar.
