Subspecies
Three subspecies recognised[1]:

- C. v. caudacuta:
- Southern Myanmar, south-western Thailand, Malay Peninsula and adjacent islands
- C. v. siberu:
- Mentawai Islands (Siberut, North Pagai and South Pagai)
siberu may be recognised as full species in the future. The described subspecies continentis is usually not accepted. The population from Borneo might be separated as subspecies gloriosa.

Occurs mostly in lowlands, up to 900m in Malaysia, recorded up to 1200m in Borneo, up to 1700m in Sumatra.
Behaviour
Diet
Feeds on fruit, takes sometimes also invertebrates, particulary insects.
Breeding
Breeding season February to April in Burma, March to June in Thailand, May to August in Malaysia, January to June in Sumatra. The nest is a gourd-shaped structure made of plant fibres.
