Distribution
Endemic to French Polynesia.

- P. p. chrysogaster:
- Western Society Islands (Bora Bora, Tahaa, Huahine and Maupiti)
- P. p. frater:
- Moorea (eastern Society Islands)
- P. p. purpuratus:
- Tahiti (eastern Society Islands)
Habitat
Lowland forests, river valleys and plantations.
Behaviour
Diet
They are almost entirely Frugivorous, eating a variety of berries.
