With 13cm a medium-sized Swiftlet* Grey brown upperparts

  • pale grey-brown underparts
  • slightly darker undertail-coverts
  • slightly forked tail
  • rump uniform with underparts

Very similar to Uniform Swiftlet (ranges don't overlap) and Philippine Swiftlet.

Endemic to the Philippines and found on Luzon, Mindoro, Cebu, Bohol and Mindanao.
Common in most of its range.

Like other Aerodramus Swiftles this species is often placed in Collocalia.
By some authors considered to be a subspecies of Uniform Swiftlet (like Palawan Swiftlet). Belongs to the superspecies of Mossy-nest Swiftlet, Palau Swiftlet, Guam Swiftlet, Uniform Swiftlet and Caroline Swiftlet.
Monotypic.

Usually found over moist lowland forest, but also over open country.

Feeds on insects, taken in flight. Gregarious and often seen with other Swiftlets or Swift.
Breeds in colonies in caves and is capable of echolocation.
Resident.
