Site Information
Yorkshire Wildlife Trust Reserve 11.74 hectares. The reserve is actively managed by Leeds Coppice Workers, who are encouraging regeneration of the understorey by rotational cutting back of the hazel and other trees.
History and Use
The reserve is right on the division between Magnesian limestone to the East and Millstone grit to the west. The mid-line of the reserve being marked by Hetchell Crag an outcrop of Magnesian Limestone. At the South Eastern end of the reserve are 2 old limestone quarries.

Access and Facilities
Within 10 miles of the centre of Leeds. Not suitable for anyone with walking difficulties as the paths are uneven and often boggy, there is a steep climb on a very uneven path at the Northern end of the Reserve. There are no facilities on the reserve Within 10 miles of Leeds city centre Public transport - Buses from Leeds to Wetherby - alight at Bardsey and enter woodland via old railway line. Cars - car park on Milner Lane which is the other side of the reserve.
