Subspecies

There are 2 subspecies^[1]:

P. h. humei:

Sayan and Altai Mountains to north-western Himalayas; winters to south-eastern Asia

P. h. mandellii:

Southern Tibet to Sikkim, Myanmar and south-western China; winters to northern Thailand

Habitat

Breeds in pine and larch forests.

Behaviour

Diet

Their diest consists almost entirely of insects and beetles.
