Identification

Distribution

From southwestern Costa Rica to Panama (Pacific slope) and also Caribbean slope of central Panama.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species.
Formerly considered conspecific with Cabani's Wren and Canebrake Wren under the name Plain Wren.
Was formerly placed in genus Thryothorus like all other species of the genus Cantorchilus.

Habitat

Lowland subtropical or tropical dry forests, subtropical or tropical moist forests, and heavily degraded former forest.
