35-38cm. Sooty-grey bird, slate-grey and quite deep bill, tapering to a sharp point. Grey-brown or red-brown iris. Legs and feet are black.

Endemic to Jamaica.

This is a monotypic species.

Upland woodlands mixed with cleared areas and can be frequently found in larger gardens also.
