OverviewThe aspen-balsam poplar woodland of this area represents the northern portion of the aspen parkland belt. BirdsNotable SpeciesSongbirds abound, especially species characteristic of older woodland such as Western Wood-pewee, Ovenbird, Yellow Warbler, Baltimore Oriole and Rose-breasted Grosbeak. Aspen-fringed ponds attract ducks and grebes. Freshwater marsh areas are inhabited by Sora, and occasionally visited by Green-winged Teal, American Coot and Ruddy Duck.
