This is a monotypic species.
The southern population has in the past been separated as subspecies marjoriae.

Arid savanna, especially rocky and hilly areas.

3 to 5 white-greyish eggs are laid and incubated for about 45 days. The nest is built in rock faces or trees.

Diet includes insects and other small arthropods.
