54 to 58 cm. White belly, black back, white spots on the wings, white secondary flight feathers and outer feathers of the long tail. Females are smaller with turquoise facial skin. Black eyes, red beak.

North-western Namibia and south-western Angola.
[edit] Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species.
The southern population has in the past been separated as subspecies marjoriae.

Arid savanna, especially rocky and hilly areas.
[edit] Behaviour
3 to 5 white-greyish eggs are laid and incubated for about 45 days. The nest is built in rock faces or trees.
Diet includes insects and other small arthropods.
