20-22 cm. Black with yellow lower back, rump, shoulder, lower breast, belly and undertail. Female, dull yellowish-green above and yellowish below. Immature duller.

Endemic to Montserrat.

This is a monotypic species.

Montane forests.

Nests hang from the leaves of trees, 2-3 eggs are laid.

Diet includes insects, fruit and possibly nectar.
