70-cm. A medium-sized Hornbill.

  • All-black plumage
  • White tail
  • Pale ivory-yellow casque and bill
  • Black base to lower mandible
  • White bare skin around eye and on throat
  • Red eye with black orbital ring

Females are smaller, with a smaller casque and dark grey-brown eyes.
Juveniles have an even smaller bill with a grey base and dark grey eyes without a black orbital ring.
