A monotypic species.
Formerly held Talaud Bush-hen (A. magnirostris) and Rufous-tailed Bush-hen (A. moluccana), and was called merely "Bush-hen." Prior to that, all these taxa fell under White-breasted Waterhen (A. phoenicurus).
