Identification
Male mostly green with slightly down-curved bill and a forked tail. Color of throat, lower belly, and lower back and rump differs among subspecies.
Female with white chin and belly, tail less strongly forked.
Distribution
Colombia and Venezuela. There are seemingly large gaps between some of the subspecies.
Taxonomy
This is a polytypic species[1] consisting of 4 subspecies.

- C. g. luminosa
Coastal lowlands of northern Colombia
- C. g. goudoti
North-central Colombia (middle and upper Magdalena Valley)
- C. g. zuliae
Northern and western area of Lake Maracaibo basin (Colombia/Venezuela)
- C. g. phaeochroa
Northwestern Venezuela (south and east area of Lake Maracaibo basin)
Habitat
Lower elevation dry to semidry forests, gallery forest, semi-open areas and scrubland.
Behaviour
Most frequently seen alone when it may feed both low and high, but groups may be present at large flowering trees. In latter case, aggression is frequent.
