Identification

14·5–17 cm (5¾-6½ in)

  • Pale underside with dark grey necklace with white spots
  • White throat and supercilium
  • Dark upperside without white spots in wing coverts
  • Relatively small white ends to tail feathers

Similar species

White-browed Fantail has a dark throat (with white moustachial stripe) and white spots on wing-coverts, White-throated Fantail has dark breast and belly.

Distribution

Found in central and south India.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Formerly regarded as subspecies of White-throated Fantail.

Habitat

A variety of wooded areas including second growth.
