Identification

28 cm. A soft coloured Green Pigeon.

  • Greyish green plumage, brighter on throat, rump and uppertail-coverts
  • Dark grey carpal edge and innermost secondaries
  • Greyish-black median-coverts, greater-coverts and outer secondaries broadly edged yellow
  • Grey-black primaries
  • White vent and undertail-coverts marked with green
  • Pale bluish green orbital skin
  • Dark purplish red feet

Sexes similar, females duller with paler yellow wing markings. Juveniles probably similar to adult females.

Distribution

Found in the east-central Lesser Sundas on Timor, Roti and Semau (Indonesia and Timor-Leste).
Endangered by ongoing habitat loss. Lowland forest on those islands have been greatly reduced and fragmented.
