Male evenly dark grey, female rufous with dark grey face and throat. Notice the iris is pale, not red like most similar species.

Andes of Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru.

Three subspecies are recognized[1]:

  • T.u. grandior
  • T.u. unicolor
  • T.u. caudatus
