[edit] HabitatPrefers open, deciduous, or mixed coniferous-deciduous forests containing ponderosa pine, aspen, willow, and spruce trees. In northern range, breeds at lower elevations on the coast and in wooded canyons. Breed at higher elevations in the southern part of their range.
