A slim swallow with deeply forked tail; it is mostly dark above and below with a white band across the breast.

Sexes similar.

Distribution

South America: found from East Colombia to Guianas, southern Venezuela, northern Bolivia and Amazonian Brazil

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

Upper reaches of rivers and streams bordered by forests. Observed at heights around 610 m.

Behaviour

They forage over water and in forest clearings for flies. wasps, beetles and other flying insects.
