Dark grey upperside, paler underside, dark brown head, white-dark striped throat, white semi-collar just below, and white iris.
Juvenile differ in lacking dark stripes in throat

Moist forests on mountains and hillsides and more rarely in lowland (mostly non-breeding).

Finds food in dense vegetation at all levels of the forest. Eats insects and other invertebrates and fruit
