Madagascar and Aldabra.

Taxonomy

Three subspecies are recognized:[1]

  • D. c. cuvieri - Madagascar, formerly Mauritius
  • D. c. abbotti - Extinct; Formerly Assumption I.
  • D. c. aldabranus - "Aldabra Rail"; Aldabra I.

Habitat

Lowlands and mangrove forests.
