Description

Distribution & Taxonomy

The nominate subspecies cuvieri is found on Madagascar and formerly on Mauritius. The subspecies, aldabranus, is sometimes called the Aldabra Rail, with range limited to Aldabra Island. A third subspecies abbotti which is now extinct was found on Assumption Island. White-throated Rail is the only species in the genus Dryolimnas.
