Blue black upperparts head, throat and upper chest, yellow forehead, white belly and crissum. The female is olive above with an olive-yellow breast band and flanks and also has a white or greyish white belly and crissum.

Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Suriname, and Venezuela.
