Identification

15 cm (6 in)

  • Dark blue upperparts
  • Yellow throat

Distribution

South America: found in Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru (Restall1 includes Colombia in the range map but not in the text).

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[2].

Habitat

Found in thick shrubby undergrowth in humid and wet montane forests, especially with much moss growth.

Behaviour

Diet

Their diet consists of insects and small fruit.
