24–28 cm (9½-11 in)
- Pale brown plumage
- Black crown
- Long white supercilium
- Large yellow facial wattles
- White underparts
- White, black-tipped tail
- Long yellow legs

- Brown coverts separated by a white bar
Underwings mostly white
Distribution
Asia: found in the lowlands of southern Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Spreads out with Monsoon , showing localized migration pattern .
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Open lowland habitats, dry grassland.
Behaviour
Breeding
It nests in a ground scrape between March and May. The clutch consists of 4 eggs.
